Trevor and I are so excited to share that baby Tanck is a…….. BOY!!

Friday, September 28th, 2018, Trevor and I went into our scheduled twenty week ultrasound to check in on how baby Tanck is developing and to find out the gender.

I was having lunch with a friend and she informed me they went to their twenty week ultrasound wanting to find out the gender and they were not able to. The baby was moving in and out of position quickly, and the umbilical got in the way when the baby was in the correct position. Being a new mom, I wasn’t aware we could go in expecting to find out the gender and the baby might not allow us to. So, instead of walking into the appointment with super high expectations to find out the gender, I switched my focus to see that baby Tanck was healthy and happy.

Trevor and I have been blessed with amazing healthcare providers and the ultrasound technician did an amazing job telling us what she was looking at, what she saw, and how baby Tanck was developing. The hour went by so quickly as Trevor and I were staring at our healthy little one toss and turn in the womb and it’s phenomenal to see God at work.

I knew the human body was amazing, but pregnancy has changed my view on just how astonishing the human body is and how God builds miracles in the form of babies each and every day. Seeing baby Tanck’s heart beat pumping, his bladder filling up and emptying, his spine forming, and his arms and legs moving evokes a feeling I cannot articulate in words. Each passing moment in the appointment further ingrained the idea that God works in spectacular ways and He honored Trevor and I to be this little mans parents. Whatever we did to deserve this miracle will forever be a mystery, but we are so grateful and blessed.

We were fortunate enough to find out the gender as I previously shared, but I wanted to take a moment to note that Trevor and I weren’t stuck on wanting a specific gender. Yes, I thought baby Tanck was a girl, and Trevor thought it was a boy, but all we wanted was a healthy baby. Trevor and I tossed around the idea of not finding out the gender, but when it came down to it, we said we wanted to know if we were able to. Who knows, if we are blessed with a second baby, we may or may not find out the gender.

Friday afternoon was an extremely special time for Trevor and I. Allowing Trevor to see his son again and for me to see the excitement on his face as the technician told us, “it’s a healthy boy” just made me heart expand with so much love and appreciation.

We are so excited to continue to grow and develop with this little man who is still scheduled to arrive early February 2019. TANCKS for reading!
