Change is Inevitable

Hello wonderful readers,
Here in Wisconsin, where I am writing this post from, we have been experiencing some weather whiplash. Some days feel like summer – hot, humid, no breeze – and others feel like fall – cooler, crisp, with the air brushing against your face. I am not complaining about the changing climate, but it sometimes causes confusion for us externally and internally.
I have discussed the topic of loving fall before on this blog, but this year the changing of seasons is effecting me differently. I still have a deep appreciation for fall – seeing the leaves change color, embracing a warm drink in my hands, going apple picking, and carving pumpkins – but there is part of me that is not ready to let go of summer. I feel as though I am ready for a change, but there is a heaviness that is holding onto me this year as fall slowly emerges.
Practicing non-attachment is extremely difficult. There are days I feel as though it’s easy to let go and not become too connected to things, ideas, or ways of life, and other days I feel as though my hands and mind are fatigued from holding onto everything so tightly.
I feel this sense of discomfort with the changing of the seasons currently, but I have noticed my tendencies to hold on arising in other areas of my life as I experience change.
Change is challenging. Change is beautiful. Change is stressful. Change is exciting. Change is necessary. Change is uncomfortable. Change is reveling. Change is inevitable.
Change is so many things and can cause so many mixed feelings within us. As you experience change – big or small – what surfaces for you? Do you feel yourself fully embracing the possibilities that lay ahead, or do you hold on in fear of the unknown? Any reaction is warranted and never wrong. Each type of change is different and can cause us to respond differently. When we feel as though we have found the perfect way to adjust to change, life comes along and humbles us to reevaluate our supposed progress.
When I feel myself sinking into the heaviness or negativity associated with change, I try to step back and ask myself where the fear is coming from? I ask myself why I am allowing fear to be in the drivers seat rather than seat belted in the third row of seats in the moving vehicle. I ask myself if I can adjust my mindset around the change. I show myself love because change is a whirlwind of emotions and circumstances.
If change is occurring in your life right now, I hope you know any sensation you are feeling is okay. Some change is within our control and other change is not. Know you did nothing wrong to deserve this change if you believe it to impact you negatively.
No path through life is uninterrupted by change or adversity. You are not your circumstances and have hope that there are things stirring in your life and within you that will shape you into the person you were destined to be.
TANCKS for reading!
