Less Clutter, More Peace

We are preparing our apartment to move and something we did early was remove everything from our walls.

Pictures, art, posters, etc.

Everything came off of our walls and was packed away.

Something I was surprised to experience once our walls became bare was the sense of calm and peace.

Our physical home is a representation of our internal space.

If our house is cluttered, it can be a reflection of internal clutter.

If our home is stressful, it could be we are experiencing stress inside ourselves.

We adapted the minimalist mindset after my diagnosis of MS in 2017. We donated and parted with over half of our items.

Several years into this journey I am reminded minimalism isn’t a destination, it’s a daily effort and practice.

Owning less isn’t easy.

Owning less does create more space for the “things” that matter most - family, friends, experiences, laughter, tranquility, and love.

Having extra space on our walls has shown me owning less truly does create room for so much more.

The white space around us reminds me to create space to breathe and just be.

Instead of seeing the walls as a space that needs to be filled, I view it as a beautiful reminder to stay present and remain open.

TANCKS for reading.
