Minimalist Holiday

Santa delivered one gift to our (almost) three year old son last year.

We are fortunate to have all of our needs met.

We have a roof over our heads, clothes on our back, food in our fridge, fresh air and water. We have everything we need and that is a blessing.

Living internationally isn’t easy, especially around the holidays. Advertisers are really good at their jobs and they convince us that their product will somehow make our lives “better”, “easier”, or “filled with more happiness”.

My husband and I made the decision to have one Christmas gift on Christmas morning.

Why?

Because one gift can be enough. No gifts can be enough.

As parents we could go out and spend oodles of money on toys for our children, but we chose simplicity.

We chose a simple Christmas to see what would happen.

Our son enjoyed the one gift all day and has been enjoying it every since.

The holidays don’t need to be over the top or excessive. The holidays can be a time to enjoy one another and cherish what truly matters - your family, the love you share, and the life that you have created.

Try giving less and see how the holidays can be filled with so much more intention and love.

TANCKS for reading.
