More Life, Less Stuff

A recent statistic I read stated:
“One out of every ten households in our country rents a storage unit to house their excess belongings.”
One in ten.
What I hear is that renting a storage space is common.
What I think is many of us are fortunate to have a roof over our heads and we willingly purchase a storage unit to store the excess.
Our family lives very minimally.
We value quality time together over physical possessions.
My heart hurts when I hear how stuffed others feel.
We seem to be attempting to buy our way to happiness, but happiness doesn’t reside in the next purchase or item.
Happiness cannot be bought.
We humans do have needs (air, food, water, clothing, safe living space, commection, and love).
We humans also overinflate our needs.
“I need a roof over my head” is a true need.
But somehow it became “I need a 3,000 sq ft home with all the latest and greatest furniture, appliances, technology, toys, cars, art, clothing, etc.”
Our perceived needs have continued to grow and it’s costing us our health, wealth, sanity, and overall well being.
There is a better way to live.
There is a way to have our needs as humans met and not be drowning in debt, clutter, and stress.
We know in our minds and hearts that there is more to life than stuff.
We know we have the ability and drive to create a life we are proud of.
There is a better way to live and be.
There is more life with less stuff.
TANCKS for reading.
