Role Model Mindset

Brendon Burchard recently introduced me to a new way of thinking.

“The role model mindset”.

My abbreviated summary of this mindset is, function as though you are being watched and someone is looking up to you.

I am the youngest sibling in my immediate family. I never saw myself as a “role model” when I was going through school or sports.

I always took the approach that someone is better than I am, so I need to be the best Jenny that I can be.

This mindset struck me in a very profound way.

The way we act, even in crisis or pandemic, someone is looking up to us.

I have a son who is a sponge, he is constantly looking up to me.

I need to act and be my best self not only for my son, but for anyone else who might be looking up to me.

In the world of social media we have eyes from around the world looking at the life we are showing. We don’t know who might be looking up to us and watching our actions, words, behaviors, and responses. We don’t know the impact we are making on one person or the world who is watching us.

Not everyone who views you as a role model will or can voice that to you, so operate as though everyone is looking up to you.

Do, be, and act like someone your future self would be proud of.

Be kind.

Be compassionate.

Be considerate.

Be vulnerable.

Be loving.

And be the very best you that you can be.

TANCKS for reading!
