Second Trimester Reflection

Hello wonderful readers,

I have been in my third trimester of pregnancy for a few weeks now and I have been experiencing changes externally and internally. With change comes reflection – not wishing things were different, but simply taking note of what once was and what currently is.

My second trimester of pregnancy was filled with lots of excitement and discovery. Trevor and I were able to go “public” with our news and share that we are expecting come February 2019. We found out we are having a little boy and couldn’t be happier that he is growing big and healthy.

Aside from these large milestones, there were other significant changes. I stepped more fully into my role as a new mom. I embraced my changing body and all of its expanding elements. Some days this acceptance is easier than others. I switched my mindset from resisting the weight gain to welcoming it knowing my son needs the nutrients to develop into the man God is shaping him to be. Trevor and I began our research on baby brands and items that would best fit our needs and budget. We quickly realized that there are a gazillion different brands of everything baby related, so we turned to our friends and parents within the area to help narrow our search. I began to feel baby Tanck kick within the womb, which was humbling and exciting all at the same time. Several weeks did pass before Trevor was able to feel baby T kicking, so I was able to cherish the little moments of movement with just my son and I. The first time Trevor felt him kick was a moment in time I wish I could freeze. The joy, excitement, and awe that came across his face was unlike anything I have ever seen before. Feeling his son move for the first time made this miracle even more real for him. Now that we can both feel the baby move, he has been kicking up a storm – extremely active at night and appears to respond to certain voices and sounds.

My second trimester was filled with many great milestones, but it all seemed to pass very quickly into the third and final trimester. As I reminisce about the second trimester, an attitude of gratitude overwhelms me that we have been chosen by God to be this little humans parents.
