Travel Light

We just returned from an amazing family trip where we did a lot of hiking. Each day was planned around our hikes.

Where we would hike,

How long we would hike,

How many snacks we would need for our two kiddos,

How much water we would need to keep us all hydrated,

Where the trail was located,

What to wear for the hike to stay safe and protected.

While hiking I carried a backpack and my husband carried our (almost) two year old daughter on his back. My pack was for water, snacks, sunscreen, and the map, so I traveled lightly.

This way of traveling left a profound idea circulating in my mind.

We travel through life with a metaphorical backpack. Each life event can be a brick that is added to our pack.

Some happenings are heavier than others - one might feel like a feather while the other feel like a boulder.

We carry around these bricks throughout our life. Weighing us down, holding us back, and keeping us stationary.

Each brick teaches us something - about ourselves, about others, about life as a whole.

We can keep the teachings, but we don’t have to carry around all of the bricks. We can let them go.

Let’s travel light.

Let’s lighten our backpacks.

Let’s live fully. TANCKS for reading!
